SASS & Super-SASS
EPA Approved
PM2.5 Speciation Samplers

The Met One SASS speciation sampler has been specifically designed to collect PM2.5 particulate samples for further analysis of various chemical species. SASS is a 5-channel sampler, the Super-SASS is an 8-channel sampler with multiple event capability. Both models provide contamination-free sampling modules, field portability and active flow control. The SASS and Super-SASS exceed U.S. EPA requirements, and are the most widely used sampler within the EPA PM2.5 speciation network.

Features:

No Field Maintenance - The SASS allows all critical maintenance to be performed in the lab. Other instruments suffer contamination of inlet, manifold and PM2.5 separator, because they must be serviced in the field. With the integrated canisters, every element of the sampler can be cleaned when the sampling canister is changed.

Portability - Designed for programs on the move, the SASS and Super-SASS offer superior portability. The system consists of a portable pump box, tripod, sample head and controller, all of which are easy to carry and install by one person. Installation and start-up requires no more than one hour.

No Field Contamination - Sample canisters are loaded in the lab, with blank filter cassettes. Sealed canisters are shipped to sites for deployment. After exposure, the canisters are re-sealed and returned to the lab for analysis. This approach eliminates contamination due to handling samples in the filed.

Canister Configurations - The sample canister contains the SCC and all components for excluding particulate greater then 2.5um, for removing interfering gases and for collecting samples, including semi-volatile compounds. These canisters are designed to accommodate denuders, plus one or two filters cartridges.

Temperature Control - The SASS incorporates a convective solar radiation shield to maintain the sampler samples within 2.5deg. (C) of ambient.
